Are you ready for a Pocket Change?

Pocket Change

As a state of Missouri employee, you are unique because you have access to a number of valuable employee benefits that can help in a variety of ways along your financial journey. The problem is it's not always easy making sense of those benefits and understanding how they fit together in the big picture. What benefits can impact my bottom line while I’m working? Where will money come from in retirement? What’s the best way to save extra money for retirement? What’s investing all about? What if I have questions?

In an effort to help state of Missouri employees navigate these common questions, the State of Missouri Deferred Compensation Plan will soon be offering the Pocket Change financial seminar. Presented by deferred compensation plan education specialists, this new training session will tackle both general and state-employee-specific financial topics in a fun and unique way. Built on real feedback from state of Missouri employees, this session will cover:

Retirement Income Sources

Even if retirement is a long way off, it’s important that all employees understand pension and Social Security benefits. Pocket Change will discuss how these benefits are calculated and why they’re such an important piece of the retirement planning process.

Budgeting

Managing the money you earn is essential if you want to reach both short and long-term savings goals. Pocket change will discuss various budgeting tools and tips and address how small monthly decisions can impact your bottom line.

Spending

Do you understand the benefits available to you as a state of Missouri employee? Being aware of these benefits can help you make wise spending decisions throughout your career. Pocket Change will briefly describe a few notable state benefits, who administers them, and how they impact you financially.

Saving & Investing

Because pension and Social Security benefits usually won’t replace all of your preretirement paycheck, saving money and investing are both crucial parts of your financial journey. Pocket Change will help employees better understand topics like stocks and bonds, investment fees and costs, personal risk tolerances, the State of Missouri Deferred Compensation Plan, and working with a financial professional, to name but a few.

Putting it All Together

At the conclusion of the Pocket Change presentation, all attendees will leave with a personalized ‘roadmap’ that will help them make informed financial decisions now and in the future.
