Your State of Missouri Deferred Compensation Plan assets can be made up of several sources:

401(a)
Assets in your 401(a) source can include employer contributions (which includes the state match when applicable), assets rolled over from other qualified plans, and BackDROP funds that were rolled over to your account at retirement.

Pre-Tax 457
This source includes contributions that are made pre-tax. Your savings in this account, and any investment earnings on those assets, will grow tax-free until funds are withdrawn.

Roth 457
This source includes contributions that are made after-tax. Any savings in this account can be withdrawn tax-free (also known as a qualified distribution) if you are 59 ½ (disabled or deceased) and 5 years have passed since January 1 of the year of your first Roth contribution (including rollovers).

For more information about these sources, see Direct Rollovers to the PlanRollovers Portability and Withdrawals From Your Account.
